FES GUINEA

The Training of Health Specialties, FES, was born from the lack of medical specialties

The FES Guinea project

Is born out of a desire to bring training for medical and nursing specialists to Equatorial Guinea.

Starting in 2009, we began collaborating in care campaigns in EG to learn about their health system. Out of this collaboration we developed a strategic plan in 2011 emphasizing training of health workers in EG, filling existing gaps in care, and providing local, specialty-trained doctors and nurses for the future.

Using our strategic focus of providing local specialty training we signed agreements with the National University of Equatorial Guinea and the Ministry of Health, confirming partnership with EGs health agencies. This partnership created the FES Guinea program.

The FES program is based on residency training in medical specialties after obtaining a University Medical Degree. The main advantage of the national FES program is the training of medical and nursing specialists within EG. Maximizing collaboration with Spanish and Guinean Ministries, Institutions and Hospitals, the FES program will be a benchmark to train future residents of Equatorial Guinea who will be able to obtain critical medical specialty training, improving the quality of the national health system.
